Goa is an extremely popular destination for many travelers to India, from honeymooners to backpackers to anyone and everyone in between. One of India's most prosperous states, Goa is bordered on the west by the Arabian Sea, offering beautiful beaches and the chance to enjoy cruises and other water sports.
There's a lot to enjoy beyond the beaches as well, including exploring striking waterfalls, lakes, and natural parks; numerous churches and temples are spread throughout Goa for tourists looking to take in some of the historic architecture and heritage sites.
There are plenty of beaches to choose from including Calangute beach, Baga beach, Anjuna beach, Dona Paula beach, Colva beach, and Miramar beach. Scattered with coconut groves, luxurious hotels, and a lot of restaurants, bars, and clubs, the beaches of Goa provide a dramatic backdrop for a relaxing, serene break from the everyday hustle and bustle of the world.
Goa also hosts its own Carnival celebration each year, a mixture of Portuguese traditions from when Portugal ruled the area along with Hindu themes and elements, providing a diverse mix that thousands of visitors come to enjoy each year from around the world.
